'cause it's me

Kids & Families

some people probably wonder why i've been handing out free sessions this year ... how i can offer free things to people. if i was crazy about making a dollar and that's all that i was in this for, i wouldn't be. but it's at the core of me to give back. i've always enjoyed giving back, raising money, donating. it started when i ran the chicago marathon thru the leukemia & lymphoma society ... i truly, in every part that i am, believe we can make a difference. the movie PAY IT FORWARD ... well, i believe in that stuff, whole-heartedly. so when the opportunity presents itself, i'm game.

this family lost *everything* in june. a tornado swept thru their property where their new home sat. they lost the house, they lost the barns and out-buildings. gone ... something each of us can't imagine, nor do we even want to. some of them were at home while the tornado knocked everything down, trapped inside their basement. their shirts were being sucked from them. again, something i can't comprehend ... the fear. one thing they didn't lose : each other. they're all okay. and they're all so incredibly neat ... i could have sat and talked with them all day. it's was a nice, relaxing calmness. and yes, they are all siblings ... there was actually one of them missing in this photo!

my profession is all about documenting our lives. i think it's important, and i know that's it's incredibly special to people. so although i can't imagine what they went thru, although i can't donate a ton of money to build a new home -- i can put photos on their walls to help rebuild a small portion of it.

and i'm giddy to do so :)
