love this ... i've photographed this girl for the past 3 summers, i think. i feel like we totally nailed her personality, and i can't even believe how much she's grown. every year as i look at photos of my own kids i'm amazed at the changes. i think the age from 4 to 5 shows such dramatic changes. you can really tell what they are going to look like when they get older. such a great age!! her mom is going to love this 10x20 on her wall!!! i would find a spot where i could keep it up forever, as this will never get old.
i've been planning to post favorites ALL SUMMER .... as i'll continue to say - where the time has gone, i have no clue. anyhoo, this is my favorite time of the year ... i love everything about it. the temperature, the air, these bright sunny days where you actually yearn to be outside. for me, it's perfect. and so is my day now that my son decided to go poo in the potty for the first time on this glorious day!!! YIPPEE! would it bother me to post pix of other families after talking about poo? normally, yes. but this little girl below is much like my own family. i've known her mommy since we were, oh, about her age! let's just say almost all of our lives, we've been friends. we've gone thru LOTS together ... marriages, deaths, births, divorce, happy times and sad. and i just caught wind the other day that this lucky girl will have a new little brother soon! i couldn't be happier for them!!!
and i've photographed this little sweet for the past few years, i believe. she's good friends with the little girl above. and they're both pure sass. and her mom and dad are incredibly sweet, good people.

i attended a photo workshop in chicago over the weekend ... it was awesome! i went away with exactly what i was after, which was mostly how to manage things. some pix below ... i was shooting with 15 other photogs at the same time, so eye contact was a bit tricky sometimes! these kids rocked!!
where we stayed, and paid $40 for breakfast!! seriously? yes. i used to live in chicago, and can't remember at all how i was able to *afford* to ...!! and i can't take credit for this pic ... credits to wo! tip top tap was the name of the cocktail lounge from year's back ... the sign is still there. weekend warriors ... well, at least i was ... !! this was at the derek trucks band ... would show a pic, but they are really terrible ...
a photographer doesn't always like to lug around the big camera and the big lenses ... i had decided my point & shoot was no good, but actually had some fun with it last weekend. some fun pix!
