as i run around like a crazy lady shooting and editing and chasing kids and ignoring laundry, my mind buzzing with things i need to do .... i always smile when i see this pic of my sweet little man. the funniest thing is that when he saw it on the fridge at my mom's house, i guess he threw *quite* a tantrum .... big tears, laying on the floor, the whole deal. what was the problem? he said he wanted it in a frame to put next to his bed, because mommy doesn't have any pictures of him ... !! so, mamaw's photo of harp is now framed and sitting on the little table next to his bed, and he is happy :) as for me ... i'm so tired, i have no clue what i just typed ... oh well, back to editing photos for you all!! promise to post all of the goodness that i'm seeing from these fall sessions when i can breathe again!!!
my uncle recently hosted a party at his home in celebration of restoring one of his airplanes, the Piper Cub. i got some cool shots :)
isn't he a handsome man? i hope he's not embarrassed that i put this on here, but i must say, this shot rocks!! he was pretty reluctant to get his picture taken with the airplane, but i'm glad we did. i so wish i had photos of my dad like this. of course we have tons of snapshots, but something like this would have been so awesome. there are some similarities that he shares with my dad, and it's always a comfort for me to see. most notably, his walk. isn't it so weird how certain things from people you know jump out at you, and bring you comfort? he walks like my dad, and for that, i love watching him walk. silly, but true :)
he also shares with me a bit of an obsession with photos. i often wonder if i had this career running thru my veins before i fell into it. he had a darkroom in the basement of his house as a youngster (the house i grew up in) and is always finding old photographs, slides, etc, and working on converting them for all of us to enjoy. hopefully, if my life ever slows down for a minute i can help him dive into the projects. i'll just add it to my long list of to-do's for the winter!!
i recently got in the mail the best gift i have received in such a long time. i opened a package and there was a dvd inside. i immediately pop it into my dvd player (on my computer, of course ...) and there in front of me is video (not still pix ... but video!!) of my dad, as an infant, squirming around on the ground. my jaw dropped to the floor .... then i saw video of him taking his first steps .... it's unreal.
i looked at this video my aunt had sent me and watched my uncle beating up on my aunt :) .... watched how proud they were of their cars. i watched my grandmother moved elegantly around and love on her children, and i saw a grace in her that really intrigued me. i had never seen her in this light, as a young mother. i got to see my grandfather, who i never met. this, to me, was the best gift i could ever receive.
and before i had even received this gift, i had taken the kids for a drive. of course, i did what i tell all of you not to do, and we went out about when it was harp's nap time, so he would not leave the car :) anyhoo, jae is always up for pix and i got a cool one of her with a quilt that my dad's grandmother made ...
and some pix inspired from the video that i received .... i love the simple clothes, i love the texture and coloring of old photos. this is somewhat opposite of how i've been shooting lately (bright colors) ......... but i'm really loving the feel of these.
i did manage to get harp out of the car for one shot ... or rather, he wanted to check out a big tractor driving by ...

i recently ran across these old pix from last summer .... where has the past year gone!?

then i came across this! this is a RARE moment for these two, and i love it to pieces. it's a smidge out of focus, but that's prob because i saw it happen and didn't have time to take my time :) again, i didn't even know i captured this until i was browsing pix today ...
and that same day, jae with her bunches of blueberries that SHE PICKED from Prelock Blueberry Farm ........... if you get a chance to go next summer, do it!!
and some fair fun!! first these, from the county fair ... keep fair sessions in mind for next year. it's such a fun place to shoot, so many neat colors and lots of great smiles from the kids!!
i have such a vivid memory of this spot from when i was little going to the fair .... memories of sipping the yummy water with ice cream cone in hand!!
